EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based, eight-phase psychotherapy approach that helps people process distressing experiences that may continue to influence thoughts, emotions, beliefs, body sensations, and present-day reactions.

EMDR therapy with me begins with understanding you—not simply jumping into reprocessing. I complete a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment and explore relevant life experiences, current concerns, attachment and relationship patterns, strengths, and resources. I may also use the How We Love assessment when it is helpful in understanding attachment patterns and identifying potential treatment targets.

Safety, stability, and readiness for reprocessing are assessed throughout treatment. Preparation may include developing resources and strategies to help you remain grounded and regulated before moving into memory reprocessing. EMDR then provides a structured way to work with past experiences, present triggers, and patterns that may be contributing to current distress.

Sessions are typically 50 minutes, with 90-minute sessions available when additional time for EMDR processing is appropriate. Treatment is individualized, and the pace and amount of preparation needed will vary from person to person.
